Resting in Christ's Righteousness
January 9 - Resting in Christ’s Righteousness
“Now the law came in to increase the trespass, but where sin increased, grace abounded all the more, so that, as sin reigned in death, grace also might reign through righteousness leading to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” - Romans 5:20-21
The Gospel isn’t about you. It’s for you. The Gospel isn’t about your righteousness or works, but the righteousness and works of Jesus. And that’s a good thing, because we tend to be inconsistent with how we follow God and what he tells us to do in Scripture.
“On my worst days of sin and failure, the gospel encourages me with God’s unrelenting grace toward me. On my best days of victory and usefulness, the gospel keeps me relenting to God solely on the basis of Jesus’ righteousness and not mine.” - Milton Vincent / A Gospel Primer
So when you are having a tough day, remember that God loves you and gives you grace. He proved it with sending Jesus for you. When you are having a great day, remember that you still need God and his grace desperately.
Know the Gospel. Rehearse it. Share it.
